About the card

Child Oral Health Card crystallizes the Indian Dental Association's (IDA) aim for optimal health of the future generation. This initiative helps ensure optimal oral health and makes oral health care more accessible and affordable.

Today, dental caries is a public health problem in India with a prevalence as high as 60- 80% in children, according to the Directorate General of Health Services and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. Poor oral health in children can affect growth and school attendance; can lead to medical complications of untreated disease and result in poor social outcomes.

IDA initiated the Child Oral Health Card, so that children can obtain

  • timely preventive,
  • educational or
  • treatment services.
